Question Description
I’m working on a nursing presentation and need a sample draft to help me study.
#8 ASSIGNMENT DUE THURSDAY 12/17/2020
we will be discussing current nursing theories and how they have become more specific to patient populations or nursing practice. we will explore these theories and apply to your current practice.
Create a PowerPoint presentation as a Microsoft PPT document (.pptx) that addresses each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Use clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with at least two (2) sources and the textbook Smith, M. & Parker, M. (2015). Nursing Theories and Nursing Practice. 4th ed. Philadelphia, PA: F. A. Davis chapters 19,20, 21, 22
using APA citations throughout your presentation. Make sure to cite the sources using the APA writing style for the presentation. Include a slide for your references at the end.
PowerPoint presentation reviewing the theories from module# 1 to #8. Please select one theory from each module (1-8) and answer the following questions for every single theory. You should have 4 slides for each theory with a total of 8 theories discussed. These are the questions to answer for each theory. Please make sure you have very good speaker notes in each slide as well as good content. I dont care about graphics or pictures.
- Describe the theory
- Give 3 examples of how the theory applies to current practice (number and label examples, such as Nightingale Example 1 )
- List/explain 3 positive patient outcomes resulting from utilizing the theory (label as Patient Outcomes)
- List/Explain 3 benefits to nursing satisfaction when utilizing the theory (Label as Nursing Satisfaction)
- Describe two barriers to using the theory in practice and one method for overcoming each barrier (support methods with sources)
- Support from literature clearly noted throughout
The presentation should contain 4 slides per theory, for a total of 32 slides.
Structure: Include a title slide, objective slide, content slides, reference slide in APA format. Title/Objective/Reference slides do not count towards the minimum slide count for this assignment.
Module #1 Florence Nightingale Environmental Theory
Module#2 Orems Self-Care Deficit Theory.
Module#3 Dorothy Johnson (Behavioral Systems Model). This theory view persons (families, groups, communities) as integrated wholes or integrated systems interacting with the larger environmental system. The health or well-being of the person is influenced by environmental factors

Module#5 Sister Callista Roy (Adaptation Model) or Betty Neuman (Systems Model). These theories view persons (families, groups, communities) as integrated wholes or integrated systems interacting with the larger environmental system. The health or well-being of the person is influenced by environmental factors.
Module#6 Leininger’s Culture Care Model
Module#7 Rosemarie Parses theory on Human Becoming School of Thought, in which she looks at the human and phenomenas human beings experience.
Module#8 Katharine Kolcabas Comfort Theory of Nursing Please look into chapter 21 from Smith, M. & Parker, M. (2015). Nursing Theories and Nursing Practice. I have attached a copy of the textbook.
One of the many roles of a nurse is to make sure patients are well cared for and comfortable. After all, many people decide to go into the field of nursing to help people, and what better way to help patients than to make sure they have everything they need to be comfortable during treatment and recovery? In Katharine Kolcabas Comfort Theory of Nursing, the focus is on patient comfort. And though her theory is relatively new, it is one that will seem to be useful in a wide variety of nursing settings. Kolcaba developed her nursing theory in the 1990s. It is a middle range nursing theory designed for nursing practice, research, and education. According to her theory, patient comfort exists in three forms: relief, ease, and transcendence. These comforts can occur in four contexts: physical, psychospiritual, environmental, and sociocultural.
Relief comfort usually comes in the form of pain management through medications. When medications are administered, the patient has a sense of relief from the pain. Ease comfort is focused more on the environment and psychological state of the patient. For example, after issues of anxiety are addressed and dealt with, a patient feels at ease. Finally, transcendence comfort comes when a patient is able to rise above challenges that occur in care and recovery.
In this theory, the role of a nurse is to assess a patients comfort needs and create a nursing care plan to meet those needs. As a patients comfort needs change, the nurses interventions change, as well. Through this method, nurses are able to ensure their patients are properly cared for, and that they are comfortable. If a patient is comfortable, he or she will feel emotionally and mentally better, which will aid in recovery.
