Please look to the chapter The Sixties, 1960-1968 in Voices of Freedom and feel free to use those primary documents as resources and for ideas. (I can provide this)
******Students must use two primary sources to compose their post.********* Primary sources are sources from the time the event occurred. For instance, Lyndon Johnson’s inaugural address would be a primary source.
Once you have chosen your topic, you are to look up an article from the time-frame that the event happened
DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA OR OTHER COMMON BROWSERS, VERY PREFERED YPU USE SCHOLLARLY ARTICLES OR RESEARCH
(The best resources can be found in the Ludden Library Databases Americas Historical Newspapers, 1690-2000 and U.S. History in Context. To enter these sites, go to the Ludden Library, click on the databases link, and then click on the link for Social Sciences: History, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science. Several helpful databases are listed. My intention in having you do this is to view primary sources from the time the event occurred.)
You must reference at least two primary sources to demonstrate their research, which can include sources from Voices of Freedom.
You may use other sources as well for general reference, such as your textbook or encyclopedic articles.
***Then, you need to write an article as if it was a newspaper article about the event. *****
You can make this as creative as you would like. You can take on an American persona, someone representing a particular minority or political group, or even an international reporter (if you do so, make sure you state this in your post). You can write as if you are writing an editorial, or simply reporting the news.
Article needs to be at least 600 words. At the end of your article, you need to name your sources in CMS bibliographic format.
