Question Description
A long angle steel bar is inserted inside a large cylinder as shown below. The surface areas are A1 = 60
m2, A2 = 13 m2, A3 = 5 m2, A4 = 8 m2. The surface temperatures for A1, A2, A3, and A4 surfaces are T1 =
100 K, T2 = 500 K, T3 = 500 K, T4 = 500 K, respectively. Assume that the surfaces are blackbodies
throughout the problem. Assume the surfaces have the same depth.
(a) (5 pts) Sketch a radiation heat transfer network circuit. Clearly denote each node with its
temperature as well as the radiation thermal resistances between nodes.
(b) (10 pts) Complete the following view factor matrix. Show your work in detail! Utilize Table 13-2
c) (5 pts) Determine the heat flux from the surface A3 to A1.
