5 dollars and 10 dollars(more than 15 order) tipThe purpose of this assignment is to show your understanding of what a transmedia narrative is.
This assignment should be fun and fairly simple to do but there are several steps so please review the instructions in advance to make sure that you’re not missing anything because there won’t be any make-ups or late work accepted (since it is the end of the semester).
The assignment should include the following:
A narrative treatment. This should be a 1 page summary of the story you’re going to be using within this assignment. You should do one of the following three options for selecting a narrative:
A completely original narrative idea that you come up with yourself.
A narrative that builds off of small details in an existing narrative, like the producers of the Dr. Who reboot used the “bad wolf” graffiti in an old episode and used that as the focal point of a new season.
A narrative that uses the entire content of an existing narrative in order to create a richer experience for the narrative, like the producers of Star Wars did with the Rogue One movie or the way The Mandalorian is. These accept the existing Star Wars cannon and story but are adding details from the Star Wars world to help build up emotions in the audience in order to make the content even more compelling.
An outline that illustrates what will act as the tent-pole medium and narrative for your transmedia story, what will be the supporting mediums and narratives.
A 1 page account of how the supporting mediums will work with the tent pole and how using a transmedia storytelling technique will contribute to the overall design of the story. In other words, tell me why your idea works better as a transmedia story instead of a traditional film or TV show.
This assignment should take no more than 3 hours to put together. If this is taking longer, consider simplifying your idea.
Please do NOT use any of the examples we used in class (Star Wars, Dr. Who, Marvel [yes, including the XMen]).
