Question Description
This week, you will write your own OpEd based on the same topic that you have been researching this semester. This is your chance to make an argument to a general audience. Think carefully about which examples, anecdotes, or strategies will help you connect with this audience, and be choosy about what you focus on. In an OpEd, you have a limited amount of words, so you have to make each word count.
Hopefully, you also noticed in the OpEds that you read last week, that the title, introduction, and conclusion are very important. The title should make the reader want to read the OpEd. The introduction should hook the reader immediately. And the conclusion should include a call to action that makes the reader want to do something to help the cause or solve the problem. In addition, we do not cite sources or provide a reference page in OpEds. Instead, if you refer to a source, simply include the author’s name, place of publication, and year in the sentence as you set up the quote or provide a hyperlink to the source in the paper.
