Question Description
Functional behavioral assessment is a process used to gather details about the events that predict and maintain a student’s problem behavior. The purpose of the FBA is to provide information that will be used to design effective positive behavior support plans. To support a student who is engaging in problem behaviors in your classroom, it is important to consider the reasons why he may be engaging in the problem behavior. Behaviors are not repeated unless they serve a function for the student.
For this assignment you are going to read a short case study on a student who is having behavior problems and develop a short Formal Behavioral Assessment. To help you understand the parts of this assessment you should read the following information:
Week 6 SAR Case Study Definitions
After reading the Week 6 SAR case study describe the setting events, antecedents, problem behavior, consequences and function of Antonios behavior.
In one paragraph describe what behavior you would target for remediation and explain why.
Assignment Guidelines
Your assignment must include:
- The setting events
- The antecedents
- The problem behaviors
- The consequences
- The function of the behavior
- A one paragraph description of the behavior you would target and an explanation as to why you chose that behavior.
- A social skill that may help the student and a description of how you will teach the skill.
