It should be formal, organized and include an introduction, discussion, conclusion and be formatted correctly.
Papers must show evidence of thoughtful engagement with the topic and should follow instructions below. It is not sufficient to simply summarize what the speaker had to say.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETION OF GUEST SPEAKER COMMENTARIES
Most of the guest speakers are either victims of criminal offences or people who work within the criminal justice system. Their presentations will be pre-recorded. They will be speaking to you about their personal and/or professional experiences. It is my hope that these speakers will enhance your experience in this course by offering something additional to the lectures in the form of practical exposure to the topic.
In these commentaries, you should illustrate that you watched and paid attention to the speakers presentation. You should be able to discuss the speakers role in the criminal justice system and highlight the essence of their message. You should come up with at least three meaningful and relevant questions you would have asked the speaker had the presentation been live (that were not already answered within their presentation). You should be addressing any gaps or problems in the system that were revealed by the speakers presentation as well offering any suggestions on how these problems can be addressed. Your paper must show evidence of the ability to discuss and assess the presentation critically (the content, not the speaker).
