Question Description
I need to have the following work done to prove public health foundational competencies in Capstone course:
Competency 1. Assess population needs, assets and capacities that affect communities health.
Select a county in the Appalachian region. For this selected county, assess the population needs, assets and capacities which affect the communities health in that county as it relates to type 2 diabetes. Utilize appropriate databases and resources available on the internet for your assessment of both the populations needs and assets/capacities.
Competency 2: Select communication strategies for different audiences and sectors.
- Since the launch of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in 1974, vaccination programs have been one of the world’s most cost-effective public health strategies. These programs reduce the burden of infectious disease globally and serve as a key building block for health systems in the developing world. EPI in country XXX was inaugurated on April 7, 1979. In 2006, more than 3.5 million children under 1 year of age were targeted for vaccination against the 7 diseases covered under EPI. Although there have been tangible changes in the mortality and morbidity rates due to the intervention since 1979, national coverage has remained around 60% for the last few years. Accessibility to vaccination is almost universal, as evidenced by 95% coverage of BCGthe first vaccination after birth. Significant gaps remain, however, in achieving full vaccination at the right age and intervals.
Select appropriate communication strategy to reach out to the 40% of the population about the EPI. Justify your selection?
