Write approximately a 5-page single-space report on a career interest using Microsoft Word. Include an additional MLA style Works Cited reference page. Use the informal report styleletter format (block letter left aligned).
Review information and examples in Chapters 11-13. Collect research materials from the library and Internet. In addition to gathering information from credible written sources (secondary sources), speaking with an expert on your topic (a primary source) will provide you with valuable insight and current information available for your research. You are required to:
– Conduct secondary research: provide a minimum of four secondary sources.
– A good place to start for your research is the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) developed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.bls.gov/ooh).
– Also visit the Pierce library or another local library; the Pierce library databases are available to students online through the Pierce library page.
– Conduct primary research: conduct an interview (primary source: at least one interview of an individual working in a position like the one you are researching).
– Provide at least two quotes from your interviewee in your report.
– Provide the name and background for your interviewee (job title, company, number of years in this position, number of years in the industry).
