Question Description
To prepare for this lab there are three files posted to MyLS for you to download to your computer and review before your scheduled lab time.
Preparation Steps
- Open the pdf file named Weather Graphs.pdf. Read through the file and examine how the weather changed at Toronto International Airport over the period October 28 to November 3, 2020.
- Download the Excel spreadsheet file called Daily_Weather_Data_Toronto_Intl_A_Oct_28_Nov_3_2020.xlsx, and open the file in Excel or another spreadsheet program. In this file there are copies of the graphs that are presented in the pdf file Weather Graphs.pdf. The data are also presented. You will not be manipulating this file, but the data are available for you to view in the file.
- Download the powerpoint presentation called NOAA Charts.ppt. View the powerpoint presentation. There are a series of synoptic charts (maps) that we will be using in the lab.
In addition, we will use some of the synoptic charts from Environment Canada, such as the ones used in week 1 of the lab.
During the lab period you will work with the weather data from Toronto. There will be questions asking you to describe changes in conditions as well as explaining why the conditions changed. The synoptic charts that show the fronts (air mass boundaries) will be used in that section.
