401 (ACH Step 1: Brainstorm the Possibilities)
- Overview. The first step in the ACH process is to review the information contained in the intelligence scenario and identify 3-5 ways in which you think the scenario could possibly unfold. Remember to “think outside the box” as the purpose of this step is to brainstorm possible hypotheses. Specifically:
- Proceed to ACH Step #2.
a.Locate the MS Word worksheet titled “The ACH Matrix (MS Word Document) in this week’s Lesson Folder and save a copy on your computer. It is also attached to this Discussion. You will be using this matrix to submit all your inputs for each of the steps. Please do not recreate this matrix in MS Excel or any other program. A copy of the matrix for ACH Step 1 is also provided below:
- Cut/paste your answers to the discussion.
- Complete the “ACH Step One: Identify Possible Scenario Outcomes (Hypotheses)” table by entering 3-5 potential outcomes. In short, you’re asking yourself “how can this scenario ultimately play out?” Each outcome should only be one sentence long.
- Review the submissions of your classmates, offering perspective and opinion on why you did/did not consider certain outcomes.
